Revisional Differences
Demo Version
A demo version of the game was released in August 2009, and has several differences from the final release version.
Version Proto
Prior to release, the prototype version was shown around in videos and such. During the initial production run, there was a production error resulting in about 50 Version 1.00 cartridges having Version Proto instead of Version 1.00.
The build date on this version is 11/02/2009.
Limited Edition Versions
A set of individually numbered Limited Edition cartridges were released.
Release Version 1.00
This was the main retail release.
Battle Kid Download
Version 1.10 Update
This version redrew the cartridge label art, fixed an invincibility bug, and added a ScrewAttack Gaming Convention level (password SGCLEVEL).
The build date on this version is 05/10/2010.
Version 2.00
This version is the Japanese release of the game. This version has 6 difficulty levels, Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, Unfair. The difficulty levels differ in the amount of HP you have, the number of lives you have before game over, and how many shots it takes to kill enemies. The story line was rewritten, and an intro and two new bosses were added. The map layout has changed a fair bit, making some of the areas easier, and some of the bosses had a complete change of attack patterns. The bad ending of this version gives you a chance to retry for the good ending, which is still doable, even if you forgot to pick up Key 4. In fact, if you don't get the good ending, you don't get the casting call nor any bonus passwords.
Two new bonus levels were added. However, the ScrewAttack Gaming Convention level was removed from this version.
The build date on this version is 07/01/2018.
